The Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home is located in the heart of historic Naperville. Our facility is truly unique—built in the late 1800s, we have a gracious, home-like feel with a big front porch, while providing those modern amenities your family expects and deserves. Maintaining its historic warmth and charm, Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home offers three large chapels, two conference rooms, a children’s room, two lounges, and a state-of-the-art preparation room.
Overman-Jones Funeral Home:
Overman-Jones Funeral Home is located in quaint downtown Plainfield. Our stately new building is fashioned in a warm French country style, a design that is bright, warm, and beautiful. This spacious facility offers two large chapels, two conference rooms, selection room, children’s area, two lounges, and state-of-the-art preparation room.
Company History
Established in 1918.
Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services history began when Charles Friedrich Sr. purchased a combination undertaking parlor and furniture store from Phillip Kraushar in 1918. Local lore has it, that in those days, tolling church bells announced whenever there was a death in town.
In 1938, Friedrich F H moved from 20 W. Jefferson St. to the current location at 44 S. Mill St. in what was formerly the Henry Durrand home, built for the late jeweler in 1859. Charles died in 1939 and his son, Ben, took over the operation. In 1967, Ben hired Ray Jones as an assistant funeral director. Upon Ben's passing in 1976 Jones bought the funeral home with the agreement that the Friedrich name would be retained.
Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services began as Overman Funeral Home when Van and May Overman bought the Fred Pratt home in 1955 and converted it into a funeral home. The Pratt home built in the late 1920's was utilized as a dress shop during the depression years by Mrs. Pratt. Both Overmans served as licensed funeral directors operating the funeral home as well as an ambulance service. Ray Jones purchased the facility upon their retirement in 1982 adding to his Naperville location, Friedrich-Jones F H. The Jones name was added to reflect the current ownership.
In 1998 the Overman-Jones F H was rebuilt to the state-of -the art facility it is today. The building is beautifully decorated, warmly appointed and designed to exceed every families' expectations. A long held landmark of distinction in Plainfield, we continue the compassionate service that began almost 100 years ago.
The funeral homes are now owned & operated by Ray and his children Dave & Stephanie. The exemplary service and warm caring environment that was established almost 100 years ago still lives on perpetuated by the Jones Family and their exceptional staff in Naperville and Plainfield

The compensation package includes an annual salary (commiserate with experience level), performance bonuses, 401K with match, medical insurance, disability insurance and vacation time. Our directors have a work schedule which allows for every other weekend off, on-call rotational schedule and a holiday schedule.
